Abstract

The article attempts to explain the structure of the political sovereignty of Francoist Spain, to find historical and conceptual grounds for caudillismo as a model of leadership. Evidence is presented in favor of the argument that the army was the forerunner and the most important basis for Spanish Caudillismo. A comprehensive review of legal novels and ideological concepts interpreting and legitimizing the Franco regime is proposed.
