Specific features of the state support mechanism for agriculture in Azerbaijan

Resumo

The article reveals the factors that determine the need for state support for agriculture and examines the features of the mechanism of this support in Azerbaijan. In particular, comparative advantages and disadvantages of subsidies based on land area and volume of production are scrutinized. The analysis shows that in recent years the share of state support in the gross agricultural product has been declining mainly due to the significant increase in prices for agricultural products. The author maintains that in order to increase the effectiveness of support for agriculture in Azerbaijan, it is necessary to take into account the specific characteristics of small farms and market factors.
