Abstract
A mini-review is devoted to the role of alumina as a support or a binder in cobalt catalysts for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis, in particular the role in the formation of active centers. Some peculiarities of the physico-chemical properties of alumina have been identified, which may be useful in the development of new catalysts. The possibilities for improving catalytic properties by optimizing the shape and size of particles, as well as the degree of reduction of Co when using alumina as a support or a support component are demonstrated.
