Abstract

Relevance. Triglycerides are one of the key components of lipid metabolism, which play an important role in the development of cardiometabolic syndrome, which is a set of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Identification of correlations of triglyceride levels with other parameters of cardiometabolic syndrome has great scientific and practical value.

Objective. Study of correlations of triglycerides with other parameters of cardiometabolic syndrome among patients with hypertriglyceridemia.

Materials and methods. The study was retrospective, the sample included 693 patients aged 18 to 90 years with a cardiological profile with hypertriglyceridemia. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used to determine the correlation of parameters, the strength of the relationship was determined according to Chaddock.

Results. The following correlations of triglycerides with cardiometabolic syndrome parameters were found among patients with hypertriglyceridemia: weight (r = 0.21, p < 0.001), body mass index (r = 0.23, p < 0.001), visceral fat index (r = 0.784, p < 0.001), waist circumference (r = 0.111, p = 0.045), METS-IR index (r = 0.358, p < 0.001), plasma atherogenicity index (r = 0.815, p < 0.001), glucose (r = 0.142, p = 0.001), HOMA-IR index (r = 0.20, p = 0.004), fasting blood insulin (r = 0.471, p < 0.001), total cholesterol (r = 0.265, p < 0.001), high-density lipoproteins (r = -0.266, p < 0.001), very low-density lipoproteins (r = 0.965, p < 0.001).

Conclusions. Triglycerides play a central role in the pathogenesis of cardiometabolic syndrome, interacting with other components of this condition through complex mechanisms of regulation of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. The presence of elevated serum triglyceride levels is associated with abdominal obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and arterial hypertension. In the presence of hypertriglyceridemia, a significant increase in blood pressure, high levels of total cholesterol, and very low-density lipoproteins are observed.
