Summary. The paper discusses the indications for use of loop diuretics to treat essential hypertension and the current limits in terms of their introduction into the practice of routine antihypertensive therapy. By using torasemide as an example, the author demonstrates prospects for using loop diuretics for the treatment of essential hypertension.

Резюме. Обсуждаются показания к применению петлевых диуретиков для лечения артериальной гипер- тензии и ограничения, существующие в настоящее время с точки зрения их внедрения в практику рутин- ной антигипертензивной терапии. На примере торасемида продемонстрированы перспективы примене- ния петлевых диуретиков для лечения артериальной гипертензии.
