On the translation views of Ya. A. Galinkovsky

Resumo

Using the data from The Coryphaeus magazine and the subsequent publications, the article attempts to offer a comprehensive outlook on the approaches to translation of Ya. A. Galinkovsky, an author of the early 19^th century who stayed away from the warring literary groups. Galinkovsky’s opinions on the European translation traditions, on the problem of translation accuracy, on various translation methods and ways of reproducing the formal features of the original are considered.
